I can only imagine that someone just recived their fourth speeding ticket and decided to wreak vengeance on the camera that caught them. Looking closely at the pictures (and at the real life article) it looks like it burned with a mixture of petrol and horse hair (very bizarre I must say). The camera is the one in Lower Street, Pulborough.

I've just discovered that the mobile waste collections from Pulborough Car Park are to continue until spring 2009 (at least). I have posted the new dates in the Local Info pages. I for one am glad that the service will stay - it's very handy for those large items that just won't fit in the ordinary bin. As an aside, why is that we can't recycle corrugated card in the Horsham District? The households in Fittleworth (part of Chichester Council) do recycle such material so it can't be impossible. Surely West Sussex County Council could come up with a cross-county plan? |

Arundel Castle
An excellent place to visit, Arundel Castle is the seat of The Dukes of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. Arundel Castle has been open to visitors seasonally for nearly 200 years. It is one of the great treasure houses of England, each having its own unique place in history and is home to priceless works of art. Go and see paintings and furniture, tapestries and stained glass, china and clocks, sculpture and carving, heraldry and armour in stunning room settings.
Bignor Roman Villa
See outstanding mosaic floors in the Roman Villa at Bignor. Situated at the foot of the downs, near the tiny village of Bignor, the Villa is in a permanent state of improvement. Take a picnic to eat in the villa grounds when you've seen all the beautiful floors.
Petworth Park
The vast late 17th-century mansion of Petworth House is set in a beautiful 283-hectare (700-acre) deer park, landscaped by 'Capability' Brown and immortalised in Turner's paintings. It is open for very long opening hours so you can walk around even when the house is closed.

Do you mind having to shop over a wide area? If you had to shop in Willmers, Hamilton Cole and Sainsbury's would you walk? If not, how much petrol are you using? Do you prefer to shop in larger towns? Have you switched to internet shopping?
-
Are there enough places for the young folk in the village to go? Do we need more focus on the teenagers that live here? Is there really any difference between todays youngsters and those of years ago? Were you as good as gold in your youth?

Fancy yourself as a good writer? How about describing life in the village for us all to share. Any subject of interest is acceptable. Be controversial!

Have Your Say
News from the Pulborough Traders Group It is now un-confirmed that there will be in-store Post Office facilities in the Londis store from the end of April. Apparently there are difficulties due to the size of the shop! The old Cubitt & West building has now been re-opened as a dental practice called Vitality. Now the builders have moved away we can see the beautiful architectural styling behind. Erm, OK it looks like a prison block, and that cream colour is totally hideous. I'm sure the owners will be splendid folk but they should seriously consider suing their architect. The old Cordens pharmacy has reopened, but not as a Travel Agency in the normal sense of the word. Although that was the predicted usage it turns out to be an office. I'm sure we're all thrilled with that decision - an office really adds to the vibrant feeling of the Lower Street area (sorry, but subtlety has left me momentarily). The Post Office has been refurbished prior to its sale. It is now a large shop with flat above; details from Cubitt & West. I had a look myself but it's too big for a PC shop (and the price is too high IMHO). The plans for the charity to run a shop in the old Lower Street Surgery have fallen through so anyone looking for a sizeable premises could consider moving in. I'll post more news as I get it! Feel free to join in.
