Pulborough Car Park Waste Collections

HORSHAM’S Mobile Household Waste Service is going green from Saturday April 3.  The current service is being replaced with a new service that will accept, for the first time, green waste for composting and some white goods for recycling.  This new service will be available between April and November.

The County Council is committed to decreasing the amount of waste sent to landfill and increasing the amount of waste recycled. Nearly all of the waste accepted at the existing service is disposed of to landfill and much of it is green waste that could be recycled.

The white goods / bulky waste that can be accepted at the new Mobile green waste recycling service in Horsham include large white goods (cookers, washing machines, dish washers) and bulky furniture (tables, sofas etc).

Hazardous waste cannot be accepted due to waste regulations. So fridges, freezers, televisions, computer screens, batteries and any chemicals or liquids cannot be accepted.

I have uploaded a timetable of the new service here .

Pulborough Community Action Plan
Written by Dean Smith
Thursday, 18 March 2010

The following is a request from the Pulborough Parish Council. Have a read and get in touch with the Parish Office!

PULBOROUGH PARISH COUNCIL ASKS FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP INFLUENCE THE FUTURE OF THEIR COMMUNITY?

As we all know, the world around us is continually evolving and progressing, as is our own Community. In order to assess the effects of these changes and the concerns of our community Pulborough Parish Council is undertaking, in partnership with local businesses, voluntary and community groups, a Community Action Plan.  The Plan will follow a period of public consultation with local residents, as well as input from neighbouring Parishes, to identify key areas under 4 main headings: -

•    A better place to live
•    Opportunity for all
•    Better Health for all
•    Staying and feeling safe

The Parish Council is looking for volunteers to be part of the team that will aim to identify areas of concern to the Community and help to influence the future of our Parish and its surrounding area.  Activities involved could range from market research "on the street" to research on the Internet. If you would like to be involved, please contact the Parish Clerk on 01798 873532 or call into the office any morning. The first meeting of all volunteers and stakeholders will take place on Thursday 29th April in the Village Hall.

BE PART OF OUR FUTURE

Village Transport Plan
Written by Dean Smith
Tuesday, 09 March 2010

Over the past year (and more) West Sussex County Council, Horsham District Council, Pulborough Parish Council and The Pulborough Society have jointly looked at ways of improving transport, in all its guises, through Pulborough.

The final report has now been published and is available here as a download . It is quite long at 43 pages, but covers the subject in detail, highlighting areas where improvement is needed and what actions may be taken. It is honest enough to conclude that some problems are not going to be resolved without a bypass.

Have a read through and if you want to make any comment, let me know and I'll publish feedback here.

Petworth Park

The vast late 17th-century mansion of Petworth House is set in a beautiful 283-hectare (700-acre) deer park, landscaped by 'Capability' Brown and immortalised in Turner's paintings. It is open for very long opening hours so you can walk around even when the house is closed.

Quote of the Week

If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have paradise in a few years.

The March figures are up to the 26th.

I haven't updated these figures for a while so I was surprised that the numbers are now way over three times what they were 18 months ago. Woohoo!

Have Your Say

News from the Pulborough Traders Group (or not)

Apparently the Pulborough Traders Group have been re-enlivened though I've still had no updates for months. Not a very proactive team apparently!

I can confirm that MBC Office has opened a new village Post Office. The shop has been completely refurbished to take in the new activities and looks very smart. I hope everyone in the village starts using the Post Office again - perhaps some bigger signs would draw more attention?

The old Post Office become a kitchen showroom and the small shop next door to Boomerang is now a health food shop called beneficial Health. The shop next to Willmers is now a florist (that snuck up without my noticing) and a curtain place.

If any of the local traders would like me to add articles regarding their shops or establishments, just send them to me with a few pictures and get yourself a free ad! This is not just for Lower Street shops either. Those on Station Road or London Road are welcome too.
